What is an End-of-Life Doula?
An End-of-Life (EOL) Doula, also known as a Death Doula, is a non-medical professional that provides physical, emotional, and/or spiritual holistic support for the dying and their loved ones before, during, and after death. Trained in the various end of life stages, an End-of-Life Doula is able to assist the family with understanding the natural processes, while providing comfort and support.
What EOL Services does
Nightingale Crossings Offer?
Attending to the emotional, psychosocial and/or spiritual aspects of dying and caregiving, with focus on quality of life for individuals and family caregivers
Providing an additional support system to clients and families, with no time limitations or time restrictions, with longer and/or more frequent visits, as needed.
Advocating for the client and family and coordinating care with hospice team, medical professionals, and other comfort care providers
Assisting with completion of advance directives
Providing companionship, holding space and supporting client and family throughout the dying process
Assisting in funeral arrangements, obituaries, and memorials and providing bereavement resources.
Services do not include provision of medical advice or medications or hands-on care similar to that provided by a home health aide.
