According to the National Institute of Aging, 30% of American seniors live alone in the U.S., which is approximately 14 million people. With this independence comes concerns that develop as one ages.
Social wellness is a key concern for those living alone. Loneliness and isolation are common. Research has proven that socialization among the elderly has multiple benefits including keeping older adults stimulated, mentally sharp, and intellectually engaged. Additionally, socialization has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.
Nightingale Crossings is honored to work with older clients to ensure they are remaining active, in a safe and secure environment.
Services include:
Assessing care needs and recommendations, including current or anticipated safety and/or health concerns.
Assisting with medical care and concerns, including supporting proper medication management, accompanying individuals to doctors’ appointments, and monitoring health-related services such as home healthcare and palliative or hospice care.
Conducting regular home visits and updating friends and family, as desired.
Supporting participation in community programs, such as senior social groups and senior classes.
Providing companionship in a variety of activities, depending on a person’s interests.
Providing referrals to numerous services including home healthcare, housekeeping, downsizing, and elder care legal services and estate planning.
Assisting with finding appropriate housing, as needed, including supporting the transition to a new living environment, such as an assisted living facility or skilled nursing/memory care facility.
